Syntax & Musings

We welcome you to our first Digital Web Book (DWB), 'Syntax & Musings, Summer 2005' created with DeskTop Author. Desktop Author is an electronic publishing software that allows you to view 3d page turning digital web books, save them onto your own PC and print the book if you wish.

You can view our newsletter two different ways:

1. View, save, email and print our newsletters by accessing our HTML version at the following link: Syntax & Musings Summer 2005

OR

2. View, save, email and print our newsletter by installing the DNL Reader onto your own desktop. In order to do this, you must install and download the free DNL Reader onto your own PC.

What is a DNL Reader ?
Installation of the small file sized DNL Reader will allow you to view Digital Web Books in the .DNL format. DNL files are simply data files. Viewing the Digital Web Books in the DNL format allows for a safe viewing experience, it also reduces the file size of the final document hence even less time is spent downloading your Digital Web Book.

Installation of the DNL Reader is a one-time process. Once you've completed the download, you can then enjoy all the wonderfully creative and talented works our members have produced that have been incorporated into our newsletter. If you click the 'save' box, Syntax & Musings will be saved onto your own PC where you can easily retrieve it any time you wish. If you choose to access the newsletter via our website link only, you will still need to do the one-time download of the DNL Reader so that you can view it. Clicking the 'open' box will require you to use the program install box each time you want to view the book.

The download process can take anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes, depending on your internet connection for both reader and newsletter. A good rule of thumb is to save the file to your PC if the download takes longer than a few minutes to avoid delays of future reads.

Our apologies in advance to MAC users - this program will not work for you.
